Biography
In 1966 the artist Magdalena Gerber was born in Langenau/Emmental (CH). Today she lives and works in Genf (CH), where she also teaches at the Geneva University of Art and Design since 2001.
After obtaining multiple diplomas, among other things in ceramics, drawing, textile and technical design and teaching, an confederate diploma with specialisation in ceramics followed 2003. 2004 – 2006 she pursued an Executive Master in Art / Design & Innovation at the Academy for Art and Design Basel.
She works primaly with ceramics and porcelaine, which she adapts for nowadays using the latest technology and her own material research. Her artistic research moved in a force-field between art and design. In her recent works she explores the impact of the loss of knowledge and cultural values in the transitions of ceramic manufacture.
