Matthias Aeberli
Matthias Aeberli *1952 in Basel (CH). He currently lives in Basel (CH) and works in Hégenheim (F).
Biography
Matthias Aeberli’s educational pathway started in 1972 with painting and sculpture classes at the School for Design in Basel. In 1976 he studied at the college Cooper Union School of Arts in New York. During the years 1992 until 1999, Matthias Aeberli spent an extended time in Italy. Concurrently from 1996 to 1999, he and Rahel Knöll developed a ceramic design line under the label Standbein Inc.
Throughout his career, he received three Basler art scholarships, one Istituto svizzero di Roma Atelier of the Pro Helvetia- and one Cité Internationale from the Arts Atelier of the city Basel scholarship. Additionally, in 2000 Matthias Aeberli and Rahel Knöll won an art price from USB.
