The German actor Timo Berndt studied theatre studies and German studies in Cologne/GER and completed his acting training at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Hamburg. This was followed by theatre engagements, such as at the Staatstheater Kassel, Karlsruhe and in Frankfurt, as well as the Theatre National Du Luxembourg. There he performed in the Luxembourgish-German cinema production Die Reise / Das Land. In Bremen he founded Freies Theater, performed at the Schauspielhaus Bielefeld and Staatstheater Darmstadt, and then worked for seven years at the Schauspielhaus Bonn. Following that, he performed at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, such as in the world premiere of Henning Mankell’s Africa play Antilopen.
He has been living since 2002 partly in Greece and continues his artistic work as a freelancer. He also wrote a large number of literary programmes, which he presented himself for various museums, e.g. for the Museum August-Macke-Haus in Bonn/GER or exhibitions at the Museum Sinclair. He worked with many musicians on programs of Neue Musik and wrote texts for improvisation concerts such as WortKlangRaum in Bonn/GER, Kommunikation 9 in Cologne/GER or for the ensemble Innovation for the Old Opera in Frankfurt/GER. In addition, Timo Berndt has already presented a large number of concert readings in the chamber music hall of the Beethoven House in Bonn/GER. Furthermore, the actor has recited as the voice of Beethoven more than 300 letters of the composer, which can now be listened to on the website of the Beethoven Museum in Bonn/GER.
