In her solo programs, the violinist Julia Brussels/Berlin combines different genres between free improvisation, electronic music, jazz and ambient.
We are pleased that we were able to win the violinist Julia Brüssels/Berlin for a concert at DAS ESSZIMMER. She moves across genres between viotronic*, free improvisation, electronic and experimental music, ambient, performance, interdisciplinary art, as well as jazz and global music.
*Viotronic means the combination of violin and electronics: spacy sound spheres, warming basses, polyphonic melancholy and trippy cluster structures
Julia Brüssel
From the beginning of her musical, classical career, improvisation has always been an important part of her musical DNA. After gaining experience in numerous bands and projects in different scenes, she soon began to develop her own language of composition and sound.
In her solo programs she combines traditional with extended playing techniques, improvised concepts, which she develops from different approaches, unplugged and plugged.
Stages
- Violin studies with a major in jazz at the University of Music and Dance, Cologne/GER
- Part of the musicians’ collective The Dorf &Umland, after which the Umland Records record label is named, through which she released several albums.
