The citizens of the USSR do not need to listen to James Brown, Frank Zappa or Pink Floyd – the government thought so. But all that changed in the late 1960s: under the direction of the Politburo, VIAs (vocal-instrumental ensembles) began to appear in Ukraine to become analogues of Western rock bands. But something went wrong: instead of loyal musicians, the government got a modern and original music scene. These musicians did not like their bands to be called VIA. Now this music will have a new name – Moustache Funk!

The film program Ukraine mon Amour was created in cooperation with Nadia Parfan and TAKFLIX – as well as the previously shown film program Inside Ukraine (film evening 1, film evening 2, film evening 3, film evening 4).
Nadia Parfan is a filmmaker and co-founder of 86 Festival of Film and Urbanism and a member of TAKFLIX, the only streaming service for Ukrainian cinema.

Громадянам СРСР немає потреби слухати Джеймса Брауна, Френка Заппу чи Pink Floyd — так вважала партія. Але все змінилося наприкінці 1960-х: за вказівкою політбюро, в Україні почали масово з’являтися ВІА, що мали замінити радянській молоді західні рок-гурти. Та щось пішло не за сценарієм: замість лояльних партії музикантів, влада отримала сучасну та самобутню музичну сцену. Ці музиканти не любили, щоби їхні гурти називали ВІА. Тепер у цієї музики буде нова назва — Вусатий Фанк! «Вусатий Фанк» — документальна стрічка про один з найяскравіших періодів української популярної музики. Реліз фільму відбувається за підтримки Hacken. З цієї нагоди Віталій Бард Бардецький приїде з Києва до Бонна для обговорення після кінопоказу.
