Kollateral | Collateral
The video programme “Kollateral/Collateral” attempts to illuminate the unkle time: with the light of the projected videos and as an invitation to open the view for the collateral – the simultaneous, neighbouring and often overlooked.
During the Christmas season most people only concentrate on hot spiced wine, fairy lights, ginger bread and buying gifts to prepare for the dark and „reflective“ time of the year.
The video program Kollateral | Collateral tries to light up this dark time in a double meaning: By using the light of the projected videos and by opening the view for the collateral – the simultaneous, the nearby and the often overlooked.
A wide and internationally scattered announcement brought the ESSZIMMER a great „video crop“ out of which 13 positions are shown:
- Christine Camenisch (CH): Rakete (2007), Schwemme (2002), Tauchen (2010)
- Christoph Dahlhausen (D): Hemispheres (2009)
- Copa&Sordes (D | CH): Achtung Baum fällt (2005), Sewing Reality (2009), Die Hornisse (2005), Rabenfrühstück (2004), Schneckenporno (2006)
- Karel Doing (NL): Liquidator (2010)
- Gabriela Gerber + Lukas Bardill (CH): Pas de Deux (2010)
- Bettina Grossenbacher (CH): Mikado (2010)
- Marianne Halter (CH): Aber ich, ich komme nicht mehr zurück (2008)
- Adam Knight (UK): The Polittante (2011)
- Srinivas Mangipudi (Indien | Peru): Unaccounted for (2011)
- Susana Perrottet (CH | Peru): Vision Compartida (2011), Perception (2010)
- Monika Rechsteiner (CH): Wie von Selbst (2009/2011)
- Leyla Rodriguez & Cristian Straub (Argentinien | Rumänien): Isle of Lox – The Face (2010)
- Gabriel Studerus (CH): bulb (2011)
What all works have in common is a precise, partly suprised view on the unknown within the familiar. Seemingly trivial and well-known nobody does deign to look at it.
