The works of Monika Rechsteiner (Berlin/DE) reflect (built) space. Her (moving) images seem to scan the visible and invisible surfaces and create a new space through her camera work.
DAS ESSZIMMER proudly presents Monika Rechsteiner for the second time with her room specific video installation more of the same. In 2012 she presented her video series Wie von selbst (002_Kollateral, 2011/2012) at DAS ESSZIMMER. She showed her video installations to be continued and o.T. [in transition] in the exhibition Moving Surface at the Künstlerforum in Bonn.
The series of Monika Reichsteiner are often dealing with the built space. With her moving pictures she seems to search the visible and invisible surfaces and manages to create a spatial experience by using two-dimensional mediums like video. This room experience never remains a formal-aesthetic game. By means of sound or text combinations the experienced space is expanded, reveals a further dimension and thus develops the complexity of Monika Rechsteiner’s series.
