The performance artist Anne Hody (Basel / CH) regards herself as artistic material with which she reflects on the phenomena of everyday life. With the installation “Seeraum” the exhibition space itself becomes a large aquarium.
Swiss performance artist Anne Hody (Basel) is present domestically and abroad. She uses her body as an artistic material. What inspires her are everyday life phenomenons. For her self-manifestation she uses photo productions and videos to illustrate questions about identity and role allocations. Therefore she falls back on clichées, shows and exposes mechanisms of manipulation.
In the current exhibition Seeraum, Anne Hody is presenting an installation which was already partially presented in Winterthur in 2011. This time the exhibition room turns into a big aquarium, where the observer can find himself again as a part of the work of art. The artist shows herself as a diver under water. Hody’s installation allows the observer to imagine diving into the cold water himself and to escape into the calmness of the artistic room – a world of weightlessness and freedom.
