Hillside Projects
Das schwedische Künstlerduo (Emily Berry Mennerdahl & Jonas Böttern) arbeitet seit 2011 als Hillside Projects zusammen. Ihre Arbeiten drehen sich um die meist problematischen Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Natur.
Biografie
Hillside Projects entstand 2011, während eines längeren Aufenthalts in Indien. Auf der Spitze eines Hügels in einem kleinen Dorf im Süden residierend, entwickelten sich aus Gesprächen und täglichen Ausflügen größere Projekte. Reisen, Bewegung und Austausch waren schon immer wichtige Elemente für beide KünstlerInnen und sind es innerhalb ihrer Zusammenarbeit auch weiterhin.
Hillside Projects sind derzeit in Stockholm ansässig. Ihre Videos werden von FilmForm – The Art Film and Video Archive und Vidéographe Montréal vertrieben. Sie sind Vorstandsmitglieder der ID:I Galleri in Stockholm und Böttern ist Vorstandsmitglied der NKF (Nordic Art Association). Ihre Arbeiten wurden national und international ausgestellt, u.a. in Bonniers Konsthall, Neu Now Festival, Dazibao, Centrum för Fotografi, Galleri 54 etc. Sie nehmen weiterhin an Residenzen auf der ganzen Welt teil, darunter an Orten wie dem Banff Centre Kanada, TCG Nordica China, Clark House Initiative Indien und weiteren.
Die Arbeiten von Hillside Projects sind multidisziplinär: Video, Installation, Performance. Im Mittelpunkt ihrer Kunst stehen die Natur und Wissenschaft sowie wie die Natur durch die Wissenschaft dargestellt wird. Die Künstler wenden die Methoden der Storytelling und performativen Kunst an, um über die Gechichte der Menschen und Tieren zu erzählen.
