Bonn on Tape

28.10.2016 – 08.12.2016

Jens Standke has re-measured the city of Bonn for his solo exhibition and makes it visible and audible by means of an apparatus built for this purpose.

In terms of form, Jens Standke‘s works often move at the interfaces of object, installation, sound and machine with performative elements. Media paradoxes of time perception in static and moving systems are mostly discussed. The relationship between the actual recording process and its mapping is examined. – The temporal succession is transformed into spatial juxtaposition.

Jens Standke develops all machines and devices for his search and test arrangements, which are always an object and an installation at the same time.

The information for the 2m long adhesive tape – the actual recording process – was created by field recording at various selected locations in Bonn. The prints on the tape become the sound prints of a city.

The tapes / recordings created in the fieldrecordings on site are present in the exhibition as sound installations, images, objects and projections.
