Gabriele Horndasch

Düsseldorf / GER | Website

Gabriele Horndasch mostly works location-related with installations, photography, video as well as performance, movie montages, drawings, images and text collages. She likes to be influenced by chance.

Gabriele Horndasch was born in 1969 in Aschaffenburg (GER) and lives and works in Düsseldorf (GER) at the moment.

Mostly responding to the respective situation, she produces installations, photographs and videos of her own performances, film montages, drawings, image and text collages. She likes to let chance play a role. Thus she uses found, everyday material, but never leaves it at the readymade. She transforms discarded fluorescent lettering from defunct stores, found footage from movie theaters, car parts, bookmarks from antiquarian books, and utensils that have been hijacked into new objects with an extremely dynamic life of their own. Between art historical quotations and literary references, she often establishes new, surprising connections that weave themselves into a very idiosyncratic, subtle web of references.

In addition to her artitistic occupation, Gabriele Horndasch works as a curator and professor.
