In her Super-8 Live programs, Helga Fanderl creates a time-limited and highly compressed moving image space that lets us lucidly stumble between abstraction, rhythm and scraps of memory.

Biography

Helga Fanderl lives and works in Berlin (GER).

The artist, born in Ingolstadt in 1947, studied German and Romance languages in Munich, Paris and Frankfurt a.M. She studied art and film at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Städelschule, in Frankfurt a. M. and at the Cooper Union in New York (US).

Helga Fanderl’s work has been shown internationally in cinematheques, museums and exhibition spaces as well as at major festivals. Her work has received several awards, including the Coutts Contemporary Award, the German Film Critics’ Prize in the experimental film category and the Hessian Culture Prize.
