Alexander Frangenheim and Joachim Zoepf are working as a Duo since 2 years and explore new dimensions of improvisation together ever since.
Both musicians got to know each other during their collaboration with Günter Christmann. They are producing their own duo music for two years now. They own an unmistakable, personal style and a broad spectrum of instrumental forms of expression, which is expressed in their performances. Many decades of experience in different artistic contexts guarantee a refreshing and lively concert.

Alexander Frangenheim – Double Bass
Born in Wuppertal, he studied sculpture at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Stuttgart and at the same time classic double bass with Reinald Schwatz, solist of the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker. After he had met Günter Christmann in the early 90s, a scholarship offered him the chance to go to London, where he collaborated with many different musicians like John Russel, Chris Burn and John Butcher. He taught experimental music at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Stuttgart for 10 years. He organized festivals – Interaktion Tanz Musik (1992-2003) and was co-founder of the Produktionsstätte für Tanz und Performance in Stuttgart. Since 1997 he played in the ensemble Zeitkratzer. In 2005 he moved to Berlin. Since then he has recorded three CDs, he has composed the music for the experimental film Lupinen löschen by Sabine Schöbel, which was shown at the Berlinale in 2007, and has begun working on the acoustic double bass with analogous electronics.

Joachim Zoepf – Soprano Saxophone, Bass Clarinett
Born in Düsseldorf, he started learning classical piano at the age of nine and since 1976 also saxophone. In 1979 he began his music studies, first in Wien and then in Cologne. He is active as a self-employed musician and music teacher since 1983. He has contributed to distinct jazz formations (Kölner Saxophon Mafia among others) and to formations of the Neue Musik. Since 1990 he developed his own playing style in the Improvisierte Neue Musik and collaborated with several musicians. In addition, he is involved in numerous productions and releases. Besides his artistic activity, Joachim Zoepf is active both culturally and politically, and even as an event organizer. He has collaborated with the Initiative Kölner Jazzhaus and the Initiativkreis Freie Musik in Cologne and was also founding member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Improvisierte Musik. In 1999 he created the label Improvisers Series as a sub-label of the NUR/NICHT/NUR-Kunst- und Musikproduktion. In 2000 he participated in the organization of the Symposium Improvisierte Musik. From 2003 to 2006 he promoted the series Leitkultur.
