Concert | Pastorale

06.05.2017 – 26.05.2017 20:00 – 22:00

Ludwig van Beethoven inspires, improvises, liberates: ”Pastorale” – a musical reading with two cellos (Sue Schlotte and Bernhard Zapp) and one voice (Engelbert Decker).

A musical reading with two cellos (Sue Schlotte and Bernhard Zapp) and one voice (Engelbert Decker).

Already as a boy Ludwig van Beethoven loved to play his instrument and give free rein to his fingers. His assets were improvisation and creativity. In these moments he could feel his own freedom, where his father wasn’t able to irrupt. His sources for inspiration were among other things literature/poetry (especially Goethe and Schiller), his ethical standard (Fidelio), events of the day (Eroica) and finally nature (Pastoral).

Look into nature and quiet your mind
Improvisation and creativity are valuable until today, which is why Sue Schlotte, Bernhard Zapp (both cello) and Engelbert Decker (voice) choose an unusual way for the understanding of Beethoven. With appropriate texts and own improvisations they search their way into the cosmos of dreams, freedom, spring and nature (pastoral).
