Opening at the PASSAGE | WALLS OF VISION von Highlightz

  • “DAS ESSZIMMER goes” applies to all exhibition projects that are taking place outside the exhibition space in Bonn/GER.

18.12.2021 17:00 – 19:00

Bonn artists „Highlightz“ reinterpret historic artworks by Jan Both in the (Kaiser)PASSAGE.

The artists Highlightz from Bonn base their work on one by CASE MA’CLAIM at the Bonner Talweg and design a room in the Kaiserpassage as part of the art-project PASSAGE. Just like the previously mentioned artwork, the one by Highlightz will be an interpretation of a painting from the collection of Dr. Hans Riegel made up of Dutch old masters.

The project WALLS OF VISION, by the Dr. Hans Riegel-Stiftung sees historic artworks transferred into the present or respectively the future and displayed as art on facades in public spaces. The goals are contemplation and discourse in relation to timeless topics, such as connectedness to nature as well as human interaction with it. The Dr. Hans Riegel-Stiftung, a non-profit organisation in the name of the former HARIBO co-owner, wants to preserve historic artworks, keep them relevant and present them to a broad public, free of charge, to excite young people for visual art.

The ideas for the interpretation of the piece Drei Reisende von Jan Both (*1816; †1858, jeweils in Utrecht/NL) were conceived in a collaborative brainstorm joined by a team from AIESEC BONN e. V..

AIESEC is the world’s biggest, youth-led organisation. The non-profit, registered association devotes its work to young people and enables them to experience immersive and impactful intercultural exchanges. Their head office is in Bonn, Talweg 8 – where the first WALLS OF VISION-artwork was originated.

We would like to thank the NEUSTART Kultur program and the Art Fund Foundation for supporting the PASSAGE project.
