Anneke A. de Boer (Rotterdam/NL) and Ine Lamers (Rotterdam/NL) invite a discourse on proximity and distance in different contexts in the exhibition “Ferngespräch”.
The exhibition Ferngespräch by Anneke A. de Boer and Ine Lamers presents series developed during stays abroad between 2010 and 2011 in Detroit, U.S. (de Boer) and Krasnoyarsk, Russia (Lamer). Through the exhibition architecture in DAS ESSZIMMER a physical distance arises between the two positions. The exhibition publication is considered as the third exhibition space and allows a further introduction into a „Ferngespräch“ (distant call).
The photo works, slide and video installations by Ine Lamers illustrate the relationship between humans and the environment. Since 2001 Lamers often traveled to the former Eastern block countries, especially to Russia. She developed a complex work which questions the post-idelogical society of these countries and the position of their individuals: Ochered (the rehearsal; video, 2011-2012) was produced with amateur actors in Krasnoyarsk and is based on the novel Ochered (engl.: The Queue) by Vladimir Georgievič Sorokin. The photos Stolby (found footage, 2011), untitled (Krasnoyarsk, 2011) and untitled (Padwal, 2011) are rich coloured.
Anneke A. de Boer concentrates on how people identify themselves in certain situations with specific role allocations. Her series are the outcome of staged situations where the participants play themselves. Her video installation If someone is going to play my part (2001) shows for the first time an interview situation.
