In his solo show “to the other side”, Jonas Hohnke (Wuppertal/GER) connects the exhibition site in Bonn/GER, mentally and virtually with a place on the other side of the planet.
Jonas Hohnke (Wuppertal/DE) concentrates in his work of the everyday and the supposedly inconspicuous. He also likes to be seduced by architectural conditions, their banality and even their invisibility. In the resulting works, both the work and its surroundings sometimes merge together, letting the unrecognisability and visibility only gradually appear in the course of perception.
In his solo show to the other side, Jonas Hohnke poetically connects the exhibition venue in Bonn with a location in Castlemaine/Victoria/AUS. Both places are marked by a cloud flag. The connection is created virtually, on the surface of a monitor, where both flags can be seen, as well as in our imagination.
Thanks to the artist Michael Graeve, who made the flag installation on an artist studio in Castelmaine/Victoria/AUS possible.
Parallel to his solo exhibition at Esszimmer, there is another exhibition extension in the Passage.
