In screens, Rainer Barzen refers to those colored surfaces that appear for a brief moment in digital devices after a picture search is shot into the electronic space. Barzen freezes this moment, where the mean color values appear, creating a break in the constant digital data flow. This element of pause, that is so typical to his works.
Last but not least, curiosity about the artist’s original search query opens up new spaces for the viewer’s very own world of things.
